She is also a member of the Peoples’ Advisory Board of the Lancet Global Health Commission on High-Quality Health Systems in the SDGs Era, the Civil Society Advisory Group for the Global Action Plan for Healthier Lives, and the Deliver for Good Campaign Advisory group in Kenya.
A nationally, regionally, and globally sought-after health and advocacy expert who has written articles on accountability for maternal, newborn, and adolescent health, quality of health care as defined by women and girls’ self-expressed needs, and most recently why Covid19 response should not overshadow maternal newborn health care among others.

🏆 In 2018, She was voted a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Goalkeeper as a change-maker in the Sustainable Development Goals era.
🏆 In March and April 2020 respectively, She was selected to the joint USAID and Bill and Melinda Gates Global Maternal and Newborn Health Knowledge Exchange Platform Steering Committee and the Global steering committee for the national advocacy funding mechanism co-chaired by the Government of Netherlands.
🏆 Starting 2021, She was selected as a member of the Global Health Council Board and Merck for Mothers Board.

Sandra Mwarania
Head of Programs
Sandra Mwarania is a development practitioner, policy advocate and fearless campaigner for youth and women’s health and rights. She has been instrumental in influencing progressive public policies, strategies and campaigns, including contributing to thought leadership on effective youth engagement and gender diversity mainstreaming. Sandra’s combined 12+ years’ experience in anthropology, human rights, health and development issues, and strategic advocacy campaigning continues to inform her engagement with the community to elevate voice and agency of young people, women and marginalized communities towards enjoying their economic, social and cultural rights, including increased access to quality, equitable and dignified public services.
Prior to joining White Ribbon Alliance Kenya, Sandra was a senior campaigner with Amnesty International in Kenya where she successfully coordinated a maternal health campaign aimed at enhancing public awareness and agency for maternal health rights, and strengthening accountability mechanisms to address maternal health rights violations. She has also held various leadership and influencing positions, including being a member of Amnesty International’s Global Youth Collective, and Global Gender and Diversity Task Force, British Council’s Next Generation Kenya Task Force, and currently White Ribbon Alliance’s Global Strategy Working Group.
Sandra focused on the study of power relations and citizen voice while getting her Masters in Participation, Power and Social Change at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex (2014-2016). During her studies in Anthropology at the University of Nairobi (2009-2013), she took keen interest in development anthropology, particularly in the integration of local knowledge into the development agenda. The insights from these studies have reinforced her advocacy work around social change processes locally, nationally and globally.

Angel Katusya
Communications Lead
As the communication and media strategist for the WRA Kenya, Angel leads the design and execution of WRA Kenya’s communications strategy. Angel is a highly driven and passionate communications professional who has vast interests in the media and corporate communications fields. She has an extensive understanding of how the media industry in Kenya and beyond works, allowing her to consult and formulate communication strategies for organizations and conduct media training for corporate bodies, NGOs and individuals. She is passionate about maternal health, youth and women’s empowerment.
Over the years in her career she has developed skills beyond communication into Project Management, Client Management, Brand management, Digital Marketing and Advocacy. Most recently, Angel worked as the Head of Corporate Communications at Simba Corporation, a motor and hospitality group operating in Kenya. Prior to this, she worked at Ogilvy and Mather Public Relation’s Nairobi office as a Senior Account Manager for three years following a successful seven-year career as a news and features journalist with Kenya Television Network (KTN) and Citizen TV.
As a journalist, Angel cut a niche for herself in the field of maternal and newborn health, winning several UN recognized awards. She is skilled in technology and digital communications,and has multiple social media outlets where she enjoys an enviable following.

Lilian Wambua
Finance Officer
An enthusiastic Certified Public Accountant CPA (K) whose career has been centered on people and organizational development. She has vast experience in developing budgets, financial reports, and accounting for internal and external uses. She also is experienced in coordinating audit processes, and procurement activities, maintaining the financial, and administrative policies and procedures, and monitoring and evaluating the organisation’s incomes and expenditures against approved budgets.

Morris Mbaabu

Am an experienced professional with a background in economics and Web design. Currently i work with White Ribbon Alliance Kenya in the role of communications assistant. Am responsible in building and managing the organisation website and all social media accounts and also graphic design of all communication resources/materials. Being a Professional web expert i have consulted with different organisations and companies in matters relating to website creation, portfolio builds, CRM builds, Work email set up and management and more business web marketing consultancy services. Being in an advocacy space gives me joy to create impact that is transforming lives of women and girls of this nation through various technological tools of our modern society.
